Limericks

There once was a man from Old Bar

Who had a very strange car&

Help with essay on Poems

It was blue with white spots

And yellow polka dots

And on the top there was a pink star.

There once was a man from Sirreat

Who dearly loved to eat

He ate so much that

He became really fat

And couldn't see down to his feet

Haiku

Rain, rain cooling drops

Pitter patter on the roof

Oh beautiful rain

Ballad

I went to war that downcast day

The sky was grey and somber

I left my wife and kids behind

I went on a big bomber

When I arrived at Vietnam

My friends were all but dead

The enemy had sought them out

Then left them while they bled

It was too easy to get lost

In that forsaken jungle

When we were in that cursed war

There was no time for bungle

It rained and rained and never stopped

The mud was ankle deep

But by the time the night had fallen

There was no time for sleep

The dreary war went on for years

The death toll got so high

Until the president told us

To wave and say goodbye

On our way home, our plane was shot

We fell down with a cry

I was the only person there

Who didn't burn and die

For twenty-seven miles I trekked

Until I wasn't alone

The enemy had captured me

And beat me with their stone

They took me to their camp of war

And kept me there for years

Until they finally set me free

Escaping from my fears

When I got home my kids had gone,

Had families of their own

My wife was dead and I was left

Sorrowed and alone

And now I leave you with these words

Don't ever go to war

Unless you wish to lose your life,

Your family and your all.

Acrostic poem

Around me I heard the shouting of dying men

Next to me my best friend was shot dead

Zero. That's how many expected war to be bad

Arrival had the biggest death toll

Constant news of my soldiers dying came to me

Dreading waking up each day

At Gallipoli I was captured.

Year after year at that prisoner of war camp

Task

Students read widely to find a poem of their own choice which they have enjoyed. The poem of choice will be accompanied by a written explanation as to why they liked (and chose) the poem.

MULGA BILL'S BICYCLE

Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze;

He turned away the good old horse that served him many days;

He dressed himself in cycling clothes, resplendent to be seen;

He hurried off to town and bought a shining new machine;

And as he wheeled it through the door, with air of lordly pride,

The grinning shop assistant said, Excuse me, can you ride?

See here, young man, said Mulga Bill, from Walgett to the sea,

From Conroys Gap to Castlereagh, theres none can ride like me.

Im good all round at everything as everybody knows,

Although Im not the one to talk - I hate a man that blows.

But riding is my special gift, my chiefest, sole delight;

Just ask a wild duck can it swim, a wildcat can it fight.

Theres nothing clothed in hair or hide, or built of flesh or steel,

Theres nothing walks or jumps, or runs, on axle, hoof, or wheel,

But what Ill sit, while hide will hold and girths and straps are tight

Ill ride this here two-wheeled concern right straight away at sight.

Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that sought his own abode,

That perched above Dead Mans Creek, beside the mountain road.

He turned the cycle down the hill and mounted for the fray,

But ere hed gone a dozen yards it bolted clean away.

It left the track, and through the trees, just like a silver steak,

It whistled down the awful slope, towards the Dead Man's Creek.

It shaved a stump by half an inch, it dodged a big white-box

The very wallaroos in fright went scrambling up the rocks,

The wombats hiding in their caves dug deeper underground,

As Mulga Bill, as white as chalk, sat tight to every bound.

It struck a stone and gave a spring that cleared a fallen tree,

It raced beside a precipice as close as close could be;

And then as Mulga Bill let out one last despairing shriek

It made a leap of twenty feet into the Dead Mans Creek.

Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that slowly swam ashore

He said, Ive had some narrer shaves and lively rides before;

Ive rode a wild bull round a yard to win a five-pound bet,

But this was the most awful ride that Ive encountered yet.

Ill give that two-wheeled outlaw best; its shaken all my nerve

To feel it whistle through the air and plunge and buck and swerve.

Its safe at rest in Dead Mans Creek, well leave it lying still;

A horses back is good enough henceforth for Mulga Bill.

A. B. Paterson

The poem I have chosen is Mulga Bill's Bicycle By A. B. Paterson .I like, and have chosen, this poem because it is humorous, it tells a story of a man catching the cycling craze, then when someone asks him if he knows how to ride he boasts saying everyone knows I'm the best at everything. When he tries to ride he goes out of control and falls into the Dead Mans Creek. The poem also uses metaphor e.g. but riding is my special gift. It has a rhyming scheme of AABBCC etc.

My husband Dean and I live in a small town in Indiana. We recently started watching old episodes of Green Acres. I remember these episodes when was a young girl. I compare my husband and I to Oliver and Lisa. So, sit back and enjoy. I love the show and Im in no way making fun of it.

Oliver wanted to be a farmer but he went to Harvard and became a lawyer. My husband wanted to be a farmer. His father was a farmer and farming was in his blood. My husband went to a techinical college and became a mechanic while his brothers became farmers. We bought two acres of farm land and built a ranch style house. We have green acres in the summer. Dean spreads fertilizer on the grass in our yard and it grows. He has a tractor like Oliver. Dean uses it to plow the beautiful snow out of the yard in the winter.

We dont climb a pole to answer the phone. We have three phones in the house. We dont have a cow but I love animals. We did have a goat visit our yard once and he left us a calling card on our front steps. I went outside but the goat had a dog he was traveling with and they ran across the fields. I dont know who the goat belonged to.

I am iike Lisa. I lived in the city with my parents when Dad was in the Air Force. Air Force bases are always stationed by big cities. I loved the city. When I married Dean, I thought I could convince him to move to the city. I didnt forget hes a country boy born and raised on the farm. He wanted to live in the country. No Time Square. We got fresh air. He likes to do chores. I love the stores. I do shop at the Mall but its fort-five minutes away. I have to admit it. I do love to live in the country. It is quiet. After shopping at the Mall all day with a lot of people, it is nice to come home to my house in the country. We only have one neighbor and hes very nice.

Write my Essay on My Life for me

Our town is like Hooterville. I have an uncle like Uncle Joe. We have a gas station/store but its not a General Store. There are nice guys like Eb who work on nearby farms. My father-in-law used to raise pigs like Arnold. We used to have a railroad tracks but they were torn down. We still have the train bridge which extends over the ditch. The Coop and main Railroad are five minutes away.Dean and I know people like Hank Kimball, Mr. Haney, Sam Drucker and Mr. and Mrs. Ziffel. Dean helped his father farm. Im a good supporting wife like Lisa but I would never make a good farmers wife. I dont know the first thing about gardening. I buy my vegetables from the Grocery Store. We do have a good time in the country. I throw out my cat waste in the corn field near by. We live by three fields and when the corn grows and is up, our house and two acres are right in the middle. So, like Oliver and Lisa, Green Acres, we are there!

Imagine if your mother instead of having conceived you had had an abortion done. As a consequence, you would not be here, breathing, hearing, seeing, living. Now, imagine those defenceless human begins which are now being toyed with the idea of being thrown away as though they were simple waste. Has modern society changed so much that the value of life is no longer precious? To my mind, God's role is being played by deciding which vulnerable human beings should die and which ones should live.

To begin with, we are not the ones to choose between life and death that is God's role and we should not interfere with it. Even if someone is not a believer, taking into account the legal counterpart, they know that each child, as a human being, has the right to live and choose. Consequently, the future baby should be taken into consideration and not only its mother.

Secondly, although it is under consideration whether life begins in the conception or when the fetus is eighteen weeks, it is very clear that life begins from the very instance of the conception, if not how can the result of a simple ovule joined with a spermatozoid grow and turn into a human being?

Last but not least, mothers who undergo an abortion seem to have no thoughts of considering whether the fetus feel pain during the procedure or not. Even if some of them did, are they sure that the fetus does not feel pain during abortion? In fact, the evidence can be traced back to a technical description which would say that changes in heart rate and fetal movement suggest that intrauterine manipulations are painful to the fetus. Apart from that, as regards their psychics, it is needless to say that abortion brings about psychological burdens to those who undergo one.

Write my Essay on Abortion for me

In contrast, there are some people who claim that abortion is a decision to make by the mother. They point out that the mother does, after all, have legal rights intended to let her choose what to do with her life. In addition, there are some special cases such as mentally challenged people, who have the right to choose whether they are responsible enough to bring up a child.

Taking these points into consideration, I would say that we are not to choose whether to kill or let a human being live. As Mother Teresa said "The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between."

The id is the primitive, instinctive component of personality that operates according to the pleasure principle. The id houses the biological urges such as to eat, sleep, defecate, copulate, that energize human behavior. The id operates according to the pleasure principle, which demands immediate gratification of its urges. The id engages in primary process thinking which is primitive, illogical, irrational, and fantasy oriented. The ego is the decision-making component of personality that operates according to the reality principle. The ego mediates between the id, with its forceful desires for immediate satisfaction and the external social world with its expectations and norms regarding suitable behavior. The ego considers social realities society's norms, etiquette, rules, and customs in deciding how to behave. The ego is guided by the reality principle, which seeks to delay gratification of the id's urges until appropriate outlets and situations can be found. The superego is the moral component of personality that incorporates social standards about what represents right and wrong. The id's demands for sensual pleasure are often in direct conflict with the super ego's desire for moral perfection. So at times the ego needs some way to defend itself against the anxiety created by the excessive demands of the id, by the harsh judgments of the superego, or by the sometimes threatening conditions in the environment. Often the ego can relieve anxiety by solving it problems rationally and directly. When it cannot do so, it must resort to irrational defenses against anxiety called defense mechanisms

Four defense mechanisms are displacement, projection, regression, and identification. Displacement is substituting a less threatening object for the original of an impulse. An example of displacement is after a parental scolding, a young girl takes her anger out on her little brother. Projection involves attributing one's own thoughts, feelings, or motives to another person. An example of projection is a woman who dislikes her boss thinks she likes her boss but feels that the boss doesn't like her. Regression is reverting to a behavior characteristic of an earlier stage of development. An example of regression is an adult has a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way. Identification involves bolstering self-esteem by forming an imaginary or real alliance with some person or group. An example of this is an insecure young man joins a fraternity to boost his self-esteem.

What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. These 41 'dismissed' employees must be given consideration if their maternal and paternal rights are not being abused. The context of 'dismissed' implies these workers being fired, and if the sackings are on the grounds of maternity and paternity leave only, there is a real question of unethical and immoral behavior within management. Although the sackings are less than 6% (5.1) of the companies workforce other employees may feel threatened. Job security is a vital aspect of efficient employee relations.

There are different strategies that may be adopted by Classy Cushions;

· The simplest and most financially viable option would be to revise the employee contract and introduce a more flexible working environment. This would include negotiating maternal and paternal pay and even a work-from-home program. This has the benefit of being relatively cheap for the business.

· An internal child care service may be set up, whereby employees with young children can still come into the workplace. However, a mass company such as Classy Cushions would spend huge capital on hiring new qualified staff and also facilitating.

Write my Essay on business

From the above information, Classy Cushions may be perceived by external and internal parties to be discriminative. The table indicates that 7% of employees sacked within the last financial quarter have been on some form of paternal or maternal leave. Without a more 'sound' foundation for dismissal, Classy Cushions may find themselves in a discrimination lawsuit, costing the company yet more revenue.

Providing a safe working environment is a major responsibility for employers. This is a major problem for the company if ex-employees are suffering from health problems due to the manufacturing process. Employers are legally responsible for the safety of their workers therefore if in the past these obligations have been neglected many problems will arise. The Occupational Health and Safety Act of 18 emphasizes the need for employers to provide safe and healthy work environments, therefore the OH&S claim will have harsh repercussions on the business. Unfortunately there is no straight answer to attaining a positive outcome for both ex-employee and employer, however

Industrial Action may result and safe workplace is good for moral

Classy Cushions must now aim to the future by implementing the following strategies;

· Develop an OH&S policy which incorporates a workplace committee and a full-time safety officer. This strategy may be expensive, however a safe workplace is a right not a privilege!

· Providing safety equipment, especially in concern to the use of acrylic fabrics.

· Education is probably the cheapest form of prevention towards making the workplace a safer environment. Seminars, handouts are just forms of employee awareness which will help prevent any further legal problems.

· Every -6 months the company should provide employees with a medical examination. The advantage of this strategy is that methods of workplace safety can be tested.

· Finally the use of acrylic materials within the workplace may be substituted by other fabrics. There are obviously considerations to this recommendation including, cost and practicality.

Walk-outs and stop work meetings are overt industrial actions which highlight the need for better employment relations. Considering full-time employees are paid according to their salary, the focus group for management would be part-time and casual employees.

The range of strategies which may be introduced to avoid wage disagreements include;

· Revising the wage distribution of every casual and part-time position held within Classy Cushions. For e.g.

· Introducing an alternate wage structure.

· Hiring a management representative whom enables a clear communication line between employee and employer. Once again the financial cost of this option is outweighed by the disruption caused by wage disputes.

It is important to question the importance of this secrecy/confidentiality agreement. Why does every employee have to sign this agreement? What is it's importance in a business that produces cushions? However if this is a huge concern for the company there are different methods which may help address the problem;

COKE

· If the employees are forced into signing the agreement a more co-operative approach may be adopted.

· Analysing the importance of every employee to sign the secrecy agreement. Why cant management just sign the agreement?

Although a misleading advertisement campaign is associated with marketing, there are many negative consequences which result in effected the working environment. Such as employee distrust, loss of revue and management dismissals. It is essential that Classy Cushions retain its positive brand name for the good of employers and

Things Fall Apart

The novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a tragedy. Every tragic novel has its own tragic hero. The average tragic hero is important, flawed and a king in this case a great leader. The character Okonkwo is the tragic hero in this novel. He is very important for the people in Umuofia because he's the head of their clan and he makes decisions that change his life in good ways and bad.

Okonkwo is a hero because he's hard working and courageous. For example, when he gets exiled from his clan and has been transferred to Mbanta he asks Uchendu's sons for some seeds to plant the man crop, yams. Okonkwo knew that even though he wasn't the leader of the clan he had to give his all to make it in Mbanta. In addition, when he follows Ikemefuna and the men, just to be with Ikemefuna to assure Ikemefuna that there wasn't anything to be afraid of when he was killed. Though Ikemefuna was then killed by Okonkwo, Okonkwo is considered courageous. Killing somebody so close to you, almost like family, you'd have to be very strong to of done something like that. Although Okonkwo behaves like a hero, he has a flaw which destroys him in the end.

Okonkwo has a flaw which ultimately destroys his pride. For example, at a meeting of the tribes elders, he calls another man a woman and says, This meeting is for men. Okonkwo feels that this man has no titles or anything to show for himself, and so Okonkwo felt that he was not worthy enough. However, Okonkwo then apologize to him. His own success as a great man and leader makes him impatient of others who aren't as successful as he has become. He had to understand that not all men thought that being successful was to be strong, or the leader of a clan some might of thought that their children or crop raising was their success. Okonkwo did many things to prove himself, of coarse some of those things were barbaric but he has truly proved that he's a hero.

Buy cheap things fal apart --okonkwo as a tragic hero term paper

In conclusion, Okonkwo is a tragic hero because he changes throughout the novel and even though people didn't recognize him as they use to he was still an importance. Okonkwo hanging himself was a heroic act. He couldn't stand living in a place where the missionaries ruled. He knew that the rest of the village wouldn't go to war so he would rather much be dead then live in a society that he didn't approve of.

7- ELEVEN JAPAN

Case Study

1- What factors accounted for 7-Eleven's initial success in Japan?

The most important factors 7-eleven had was the alliance they had with Ito-Yokado, since the company became Japanese owned it started to have success because of the detailed knowledge of the legal, political, and social environment of this country. Ito-Yokado had the experience of working in Japan as a large Japanese supermarket chain operator. The joint venture was highly successful, with 7-Eleven becoming the larges convenience store operator in Japan. Another factor one must site is that 7-Eleven gave the opportunity to Japanese to make shopping anytime, so it was an innovative way to attract Japanese people. The function of distribution point was another factor to have success because Japan's population is so big that it is hard to reach everybody at the same time, so customers who wanted goods from an internet marketer could order the goods over the internet and the internet marketer would ship the goods to a 7-Eleven store near to the customer.

Custom writing service can write essays on 7- eleven Case study answers

- What factors accounted for 7-Eleven's continuing success in Japan?

A factor that helped to continue the success in Japan when they started to grow and sell more products to the market for example when they entered into agreement with Softbank Corporation, Tohan book wholesalers, Yahoo Japan, and others to create a venture to sell books and video using a web site on Yahoo Japan. The several partnerships helped 7-eleven to continue its success for example the Sony partnership, NEC, Mitsui, trading company, and Japan Travel Bureau, to distribute a wide range of products, to provide music, and photos online, and to handle book and ticket sales. That penetration in the Japanese market drove and will continue driving 7-Eleven to be more successful.

- Is 7-Eleven Japan wise extending its delivery and payment services to Taiwan?

Yes, Taiwan appear to offer excellent potential for a profitable extension of 7-eleven's delivery and payment service for items ordered on the internet. Taiwan has an even higher population density than Japan, it means that the population will drive 7-eleven to have success in the market place with its delivery and payment services.

4- If its extension of service to Taiwan is a success, should it extend such services to the United States, Thailand or other countries? What factors should be taking into account in making such a decision.

One must think that the services offered by 7-eleven in Japan and Taiwan would not work in the United States, because "American" people trust more on the payments of credit cards and buying on the internet. There would not be success also because of the many delivery companies the United States have. Thailand or other countries, there would be a possibility of having success offering these same services, but the "x" country needs to be analyzed carefully if 7-eleven could have success, because some countries are different doing business. Culture is one of the most important factor that could affect the success on any country because there are many different ways people do shopping, trust on services (like shopping on the internet, and the delivery of products). Another factor that should be taken to account in making the decision of entering to any market would be legal, political and social environment, there are risks those environments bring because there are some countries where it is difficult for a foreign company to be acceptable to do business.

5- Is the offering of more services in Japan, including banking, provision of in- store terminals for use by customers, etc, likely to cause problems for part-time workers in the franchises?

One must think that there would not cause problems because there is a market for everything. The part-time workers would have to continue working where they are and the offering of more services will bring more work opportunities for people to work as well for there would not cause any problems for the part time workers and for the business owners neither.

Emma Woodhouse and Cher Horowitz are clones placed in two different time periods. Emma resides in the village of Highbury in the early 100's, while Cher lives in contemporary Beverly Hills. Each though plays matchmaker to friends and acquaintances, and believes that they are able to find the perfect complement to match another. Both characters deem social status as the basis for finding suitable love matches between two individuals. Throughout Emma, you notice how all marriages, and potential relationships are based on blood-line, wealth, and reputation. No real thought is made to love, companionship, trust, or personal connection. Emma's pairing of Harriet shows the extent of how little consideration is placed on true love. Since Harriet's parents are unknown, her family background is perceived by Emma to be that of nobility. Emma decides that such a prestigious woman deserves an equal mate, and encourages her relationship with Mr. Elton, rather than Mr. Martin, all to the dislike of the other characters. Only later, after discovering Harriet's true lineage of her father being a tradesman, does Emma admit that Mr. Martin is a more suitable match for her.

The same situations occur in the movie Clueless, with Cher matching up, as well as breaking apart the relationships of teachers, friends, and family members. When Cher tries to pair Tai with Elton, she puts all her efforts into having Tai "fit" into the social status of the rest of her friends. She first has to complete a makeover changing everything from her hairstyle to her choices of literature. Even after the transition is complete, Elton still rejects Tai because of "who his father is." Again, there is no consideration for how the characters feel about each other or connect, but yet about what business their parents were in, and how they were able to conform to popular fashion standards. Then, later in the film when Tai does find true love with Travis, she is initially shunned by Cher and rejected by the rest of the in-crowd. Travis is an outcast as well as part of the drug crowd, and Cher feels that he is not respectable enough to be dated. Only in the end does Cher realize the importance of having a personal connection, and sharing love with your partner, and not on how much money each have in their bank accounts.

Kyllo v. United States

U.S. Supreme Court 001

Legal history

The petitoner asked to supress the evidence found in his house because it was an intrusion into his privacy, a violation of fourth ammendment rights. The Ninth circuit remanded to case to the district court which ruled not to supress evidence and Ninth circuit affirmed that decision.

Cheap University Papers on Kyllo v. United States

Facts

An angent of the U.S. department of the Interior suspected the petitioner of growing marjuana in his private house. To grow marjuana inside the house, special lamps are used that give off alot of heat. The agent used a thermal device to detect if the petitioner had these lamps. The device showed his hose to eminate more heat than all the neighboring houses. The agent got a warrant to search the petitioners house and found the marjuana.

Legal Issue

Is thermal imaging a search without a warrant?

Holding

Yes, it is a search without a warrant.

Legal reasoning

The fourth ammendment provides the right of the people to secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches. The court used a test from a previous case to make a decison. In the decision of Katz v. U.S., the court held that by using an eavesdropping device to listen to a conversation in a phone booth was unconstitutional. The petitoner by going into the phone booth to make a phone call and by closing the door to the booth had a reasonable expectancy of privacy. From this decison a test was made called the Katz test, it asked the question did the subject have an expectancy of privacy that the society would see as reasonable. The interior of a house is the most private area and has a reasonable expectancy of privacy. The government agrued that it was just a visual search and the device used was to measure heat off the wall and not through the wall. In Dow Chemical Co. v. U.S. , the govt. took aerial pictures of an industrial complex and the court up held the decison to use those pictures becuase it did not share fourth ammendment priveldges like a private home. The justices in reviewing the facts of the case came to the conclusion that no significant compromise of privacy had occured by using that device but they had to take into consideration the original purpose of the Fourth ammendment. The court reasoned that by using a device that was not in public use to explore details of a house which would have been unknown without physically intruding was infact a search. The judgement of the court of appeals is reversed.

Heathcliff never finds peace through his revenge. In fact, the only time he truly finds happiness is when he gives up his plan for retaliation. Austin O'Malley states "Revenge is like biting a dog that bit you" (O'malley 1). O'Malley's quote reflects Heathcliff's immature need to propagate agony in those who have offended him. Heathcliff's plan for revenge on Edgar and Catherine is to marry Isabella, who is ignorant of love and of men because she has never experienced either. He wants to hurt Edgar because of his marriage to Catherine, and he wants to get revenge on Catherine by making her jealous. Catherine's death proves that this flawed plan of repayment helps nothing. Heathcliff, haunted by the ghost of Catherine because he is her "murderer," still is motivated by the need for revenge and tries to get young Cathy away from Edgar by having her marry his son, Linton. Heathcliff never finds peace until he gives up his plan for revenge just before he dies. When Heathcliff gives up his plan for revenge, he meets Catherine in death and truly becomes happy once more.

Catherine's revenge does not make things better for her. Her revenge on Heathcliff by blaming him for her upcoming death does not meliorate her mind. Just before she dies, she ascribes Heathcliff for her "murder." "You have killed me, and thriven on it, I think" (Bronte 158). Catherine resembles what Oliver Goldsmith said, "When lovely woman stoops to folly, and finds too late that men betray, what charm can soothe her melancholy? What art can wash her guilt away? The only art her guilt to cover, To hide her shame from every eye, To give repentance to her lover, And wring his bosom, isto die" (Oliver Goldsmith 1). Catherine's death is caused by her lack of emotional control and her dual personalities. She and Heathcliff "are" each other (Bronte 80), but her wants of social status and popularity draw her toward Edgar (Bronte 78). She does not love Edgar, but her selfish material wants control her. Catherine's revenge on Heathcliff does not assist her in finding happiness. She looks forward to dying and is "wearying to escape into that glorious world" (Bronte 160). Her death is, however, miserable as she wanders around the earth as a waif for 0 years occasionally visiting Heathcliff and torturing him.

Affirmative Action

Statement of the problem

In 177, Allan Bakke sued the University of California based on the fact that he had been denied to the admission of University of California Davis Medical School due to the fact that the University had reserved a number of spots for minority students quota system with lower GPA and MCAT scores. He claimed that he deserved to be admitted to the University, but had been denied twice because minority applicants with lower qualification were given advantage and priority based on their races. Ever since the case of Regents of the University of California v. Bakke 177, the issue of affirmative action specifically race-based affirmative action in admissions has been the center of a number of debates. I will explain why reinstating race-based affirmative action is consistent with the intent of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. I will also argue why the society and citizens within need to realize that race-based affirmative action is not about putting burdens on innocent individuals; it is about providing minorities with opportunities. In order to draw the conclusion, the arguments of both advocates and opponents of the affirmative action will be presented in such a manner where the advocates' arguments dispute opponents' arguments. While educators have spent the last several years debating issues of quality and accountability in schooling, two fairly recent events have focused at least some attention on the issue of equality in education. In the summer of 15 the Board of Regents of the University of California system voted to "stop admitting students, hiring professors, and awarding contracts on the basis of race." The announcement that all affirmative action considerations would be removed from the largest state system of higher education caused an immediate public outcry. In April of 001, the Fifth Circuit Court handed down a decision in a case challenging the legitimacy of affirmative action based admissions practices at the University Of Texas Law School. It stated, effectively, that race might not be considered as a factor in the admissions process.

From the SWTO analysis for Ben & jerry's as show in figure, depends on the prestigious, well-known brand name among U.S. consumers the owner of the Ben & jerry's brand might take a strategy of marketing penetration. For example, Ben & Jerry's may find efficiencies by hooking into Unilever's Breyers and good humor ice cream brands or through developing new flavors.

Market Development, which means selling existing Ben & Jerry's products to new markets. For the growing demand for quality ice cream in overseas markets, Unilever may sell existing Ben & Jerry's products to South American, Asian or African markets.

For the flat sales and profits in recent years, Unilever might use an expansion strategy to strengthen the Ben & Jerry's brand in the area of weakness. For instance, Unilever might sell its own Ben &Jerry's brand of cake in the United States.

In order to deal with the Threat of consumer concern with fatty desserts; B&J customers are the type who read new government-ordered nutritional labels, Unilever might produce new products and sell them in the United State markets. For example, Unilever might produce diet ice cream.

While the media won't tell us to stop watching the source of the power, everyone wants to get a grip on. Children as young as three years old are growing closer to the TV screen rather than their parents. Most parents work, so that leaves them with the non-retiring nanny which will never leave, and never disappoint them.

Without being judgmental, we can all agree that television sucks you in, and you can't get out unless the show or movie is over, but what about the seniors who have nothing better to result to. Children move out of their parent's home and form their own families. While the seniors unless they have a job or a club to attend to, sit at home, and watch one soap opera after the next. That is if they haven't taped their favorite episodes that they've already seen more than a million times.

Let's not forget the adults who live on their own, and have nothing to look forward to but the shows on TV. They watch TV to get away from their own lives. Or just simply watch something that makes them laugh, helps them keep their minds off real life problems. The single population is growing bigger in this country. Coming to College

In this day and time, education has become a valuable keepsake. Learning a marketable skill is

more precious than gold. That is why I am glad to be enrolled in school and on the verge of graduating.

Being in college has really inspired me to reach for higher goals. It has also made me more aware of my &

Help with essay on Coming to College

potentials. Most importantly, being in college has taught me to be responsible and involved in my future.

That is why I think coming back to college was a good choice for me.

Coming back to college has forced me to grow up. The first day of class seemed like one of

the longest days of my life. For one, I did not know anyone in my class. As the days went by, I got to

know some of my fellow classmates, not knowing they would be some of the same people I would

finish school with. I was forced to be to class on time. If I was late, there was a probability that the

instructor could give a quiz. I had to learn that the instructor was not my mother or father. It is not their

job to make me come to class everyday. Whether I was there or not, class would still go on. When

the instructor gave me an assignment to do, it had to be done. He or she was not going to keep asking

me to the project.

Next, coming to college has taught me responsibility. I have to do what is expected of me in

order to get a good grade in the course. One semester, I had to buy a radio and put the radio together.

When it was assembled, it had to get three radio stations that played clear. That was not an easy task.

Keeping up with all the parts to the radio and making sure that I did not blow one of the transistors was

pretty tough. I had to make sure I put the right part in the right place. Turning the first IF stage was

easy but the second and third was difficult. Trying to keep the stations that I had already had and trying

to get the other stations was not easy at all. I had to finish the project in a timely manner in order to

receive the grade I wanted. So, getting my work in on time was one of the responsibilities I had

learned.

Last, coming to college is teaching me how to get a job. I did not know there are so many

different jobs in the avionic field. Companies like Boeing, FedEx, UPS, Delta, and Honeywell hire

avionic graduates with little or no experience. They often send information to the colleges telling the

them what they are looking for in potential employees. That lets the college know what to teach us and

what new equipment is coming out. That is how college is teaching me how to get a job.

When I came to college, I felt like a nerd. I have now come to realize that there is nothing

wrong with going to college. It is a place where I can new things, and it teaches me what is expected of

me as a future employee in my field of training. Although I complained in the beginning about how long

I had to stay in school, I know one day it will pay off. I hope this experience can be an inspiration to

my kids one day.

The average person usually makes their decision to be for or against something by

weighing out the facts. If the facts are in favor of that something, one would be for it.

If the facts are against that something, one would be against it. In the case of the death

penalty, it seems as though the facts have been over-looked by the general public. I amOrder College Papers on death penalty ineffective

against the death penalty, because the facts clearly point out it's ineffectiveness.

One of the main reasons of the death penalty is to try and prevent people from

committing crimes. Capital punishment does not even deter crime. (Death Penalty).

Respected scientific studies have show that executions do not deter people from

committing crimes. The death penalty is not doing what is made to do, therefore, it

should not be in effect. Not only that, but it is a drain out of American pockets.

It costs more to execute somebody than to keep him or her in prison for life.

Most death penalty cases cost $1.5 million more than a regular murder case and a

sentence of life without possibility of parole. (Death Penalty). Not only are Americans

wasting their hard earned money on the deaths of captured criminals, but on the deaths

of innocent victims.

During 001, over ,048 people were executed in 1 countries and 5,65

people were sentenced to death in 6 countries. (Amnesty). To top it off, the

prevention of accidental executions of innocent people is not possible, yet we continue

to use capital punishment. Studies on this have been done, and at least 400 innocent

people have been convicted of capital punishment. of these people were executed.

innocent lives didn't have to be sacrificed to satisfy the vengeance of angry people.

(Landau).

The crime itself is not even the determining factor in a capital punishment case.

It is in fact the politics, quality of legal counsel, and the jurisdiction where a crime is

committed, that determine if it will be a capital punishment case. (Stewart). Since the

death penalty is applied at random, it is also an unfair punishment.

Due to these undeniable facts about the death penalty, there is no doubt why I

am against the death penalty. I'm sure that after reviewing these facts for yourself, you

will also see my point of view.

Please note that this sample paper on death penalty ineffective is for your review only. Poetry contains a variety of subjects and several different tones. Some are short, some are long, some rhyme while others don't. These poems can be classified in many ways. These classifications may include the subject, the topic, the theme, the length, the appearance, and the formal feathers. They may also be identified by their organizations, by the level of language used, by the writer's intention, and what kind of effects the poem tries to generate.

Poets also employ conventions and traditions in their piece of writings. Conventions are simply standard or traditional ways of saying things in a literary work, which exercises to achieve certain expected effects. The tradition involved in a particular poetic kind yields certain standard responses or stimulus. These responses could also be variations of them, depending on the particular poem's relation to that tradition.

The poem, "The Passionate Shepherd to His Love," written by Christopher Marlowe, is a great example of a pastoral poem. A pastoral poem describes the simple life of country folks, usually shepherds who live timeless, painless and sheepless life in a world full of beauty, music, and love. It describes life in stylized and idealized words. These shepherds live an outdoor life with simplicity. The individuals in a pastoral poem are eternally young, the season is always spring, usually May, nature is endlessly green, and the future entirely golden.

In the beginning of the poem, the reader notices that the speaker is trying to convince his love to come live with him. You might even say that he is begging her to start a new life where it will be just them two. It seems as thought he is dreaming; he talks about all the great things they will have and how there lives will be full of joy. This will only happen if she comes with him. The reader should figure out that the speaker loves the girl very much that he will do anything she wants him to do that will make her happy, "And I will make thee beds of roses/ And a thousand fragrant posies." (-10). Overall, the speaker wants his love to be with him forever and he will do everything in his will to make that dream come true.

Im about to take up a position which is going to be deamed by some,

if not all, as a terrible stand to take. As a matter of fact, if anyone were

to agree with me on ths subject, Id be surprsed. For you see, rather than

arguing from the postion of suicide being an unjustified and inane way to

Custom writing service can write essays on Suicide Solution

die, I shall argue the other point. That being suicide does have its merits.

Before you people start screaming, hear my case out. Most people

argue that nothing justifies the taking of someones life. Yet what makes

life so valuable? Why do people cling to it so? All we consist of is a bunch

of carbon atoms, bound together to form an exoskeleton, organs, and tissue.

In this light, there really is not much to life. Out of the 5 billion who

inhabit the planet, very few of them shall emerge to be true world leaders.

The rest will just lead a mediocre life of work and little play.

The taking of ones life can be argued from a populistic view as well.

It makes little sense to preserve life in an over populated world. True, one

less person here on there will not make a large dent. Yet if everyone who

attempts or had attempted suicide were not stopped, the impact would be

noticed.

Another popular argument for stoppers, people who want to prevent

suicide, is that nothing can be bad enough. Yet how do they know this? They

do not have to put up with the same stuff the suicide victim does everyday.

How could they possibly know what the potential suicide victim feels. Just

as a severely burned victim may wish to be allowed to die in peace, the

suicide victim wishes the same. To die in peace with no argument from

others.

The argument of look at the people you will hurt also does not

hold. Imidiate family members will be the only ones to suffer any great pain.

Friends will go on with thier lives and in time forget about the death.

Imidiate family too will forget the loss in time. Although it will take most

considerably longer for them than it will for friends.

Finaly, the argument of suicide being selfish is hard to grasp.

Selfish in whose eyes? Certainly not the eyes of the victim. To them, they

consider it selfish of others to try and preserve their life. Again, the

argument of the stoppers dont know what the victim has to go through. They

are not the ones enduring the pain.

Religious people also crop up into the debate. Catholics claim that

for someone to committ suicide sneds their soul straight to Hell. In many

religions, suicide is considered taboo. However why is this so? Why should it

be looked upon as disgracefull, when some religions claim death the be the

reward for people after their time on earth is done.

Suicide is an issue which should be examined at by all angles. Not

just from the angle that it is wrong. End of debate. Rather it should be

looked at from the point of view that yes for some people, they should be

allowed to die in peace.

The decision to lease a vehicle as opposed to buying it will be one of the first major capital investment decisions most college graduates will face. Leasing typically involves either a zero or a low down pay-ment, whereas buying probably will require one. With leasing, since you are not buying the car, you are not required to finance the entire price of the vehicle. When purchasing an automobile, you must, either up front or over time, pay for the entire vehicle. Also with leasing, the term of the lease will typically be two or three years. You can finance a new car purchase for up to six years. In the case of leasing, you are left with the problem of coming up with another form of transportation when the lease expires. Leas-ing also limits the number of miles that you can drive the car over the life of the lease. When you pur-chase a car, you will have a residual value down the road, whereas with leasing the vehicle reverts to the dealership at the expiration date (or you can purchase the car at the end of the lease). Routine mainte-nance will not vary across the two financing options. All these factors, and others, will need to be ana-lyzed if one is to make the best capital budgeting decision. Watching the film Dumbo on a 16-millimeter film projector gave me a different viewing experience than one that I am typically used to. It was not at all like watching Dumbo on DVD. Viewing the film on this type of projector made me feel as though we were in the 140's watching the film for the first time. The added newsreel, which was shown in the beginning of the film, also helped to enhance the experience, as these were often shown before the pictures in the 140's. Hearing the clicking of the projector in the background created an ambience that was much different than what I am accustomed to.

The film was projected onto the screen and as a result, the picture as a whole appeared to be sort of jumpy and jerky. It was very different from watching a film on your television at home, or even from watching a film in the movie theater. In present theaters, the picture is much smoother and not as shaky as it was on the 16-millimeter film projector. Also, the picture appeared to look much different than if you were to watch the video or DVD version of the film. This was as the picture was on a reel of film that ran through the projector and was then projected onto the screen. The colors did not seem to be as bright, and the sounds seemed to be kind of harsh and loud. This was primarily because Dumbo was one of Disney's first animated feature films.

Watching the film on this projector truly made the viewing experience different, but it was definitely a positive change. In comparing the two completely different methods of viewing films, it is amazing to see how far we have progressed from the past years. If filmmakers from the past were told that in the future the public would be watching films that were contained on discs smaller than records, they probably would not have believed it. However, although the 16-millimeter projector may seem to us to be a way of the past, it is actually remarkable to think how much this type of projector helped us to get where we are currently, in terms of viewing films. Technology would not be where it was today if it was not helped along by techniques developed in the earlier periods of film history.

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Dumbo on the 16-millimeter film projector. It was an experience that was special for me, as I do not think I have ever watched a film on this type of projector before. It helped me to appreciate film history and how far it has come in the past century. Also, it was fun to know that I was watching a film that was made in the 140's the way the audience in the 140's would have actually watched the film.&
